Review: Knebworth Park, Gardens and Dinosaur Trail
A review of our Summer Holiday outing to Knebworth House, Hertfordshire.
Knebworth House has become a bit of a regular haunt for my girls and I. Only a quick trip down the A1 and a whole days entertainment to be had.
We visited this week (in the sunshine – yippee!) and started our day in the playground. One of the questions I often get asked is how to entertain children across different ages – well, at Knebworth there really is something for everyone…
With swings, slides and, er, bark to chew on my nearly 1 year old was super happy. My 2.5 year old couldn’t decide want to play on first and staggered around excitedly from climbing frame to assault course to the little mushroom houses (a favourite!). My toddler is just big enough for one of the large slides – can you guess who was more excited about being on it though….?!
There’s a great water play area, Knebworth Fort (where my daughter seems to have no fear!) and a bouncy castle too. As my girls get older there’s a zip wire, large slides and a lot more besides – we’ve got years and years of fun there yet.
Food glorious food
Food is always a priority in my family. At Knebworth you can choose to picnic in the huge playground or eat in the Garden Terrace Tea Room. Somehow we managed to do both this visit – picnic lunch on shady benches and ice cream and cake for pudding! The food offering is great including lunch box deals for the kids.
Knebworth House, Gardens & Park are now open. Please see website for up to date information.
Dinosaurs – raaaaah!
Onwards to the Gardens and Dinosaur Trail… We discover something new every time. We scooted around the maze today (we never manage it first time and it’s a bit fiddly turning around with a buggy) and discover wooden rocking ducks! The gardens really are stunning at the moment and interspersed with carvings and statues to explore.
I can’t explain how excited my toddler is every time we see the dinosaurs. She runs from one to the other naming them with huge enthusiasm. It’s so brilliantly done – just over a small area so good for little legs too.
We love going to Knebworth House and will be regular visitors for a long time to come. If you fancy going, why not try and bag yourself a free family ticket in our competition?
Open now until 25th September but check website for dates
Gardens and Dinosaur trail, Park and Adventure Playground open 11am – 5pm
