Pit your gundog against the clock at Knebworth Country Show 9/10th July 2016
Does your spaniel show a natural aptitude for retrieving dummies? Or perhaps your Labrador relishes being challenged in the field. If so, why not pit your gundog against the clock at Knebworth Country Show – you might just qualify for the Chudleys Gundog Championship.
Being held at Knebworth House on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July, the two-day event will put around 1,200 gundogs through their paces. To qualify, handlers and gundogs simply compete in either the Working Test – which is a timed simulated shoot day challenge – or the Scurry Victor Ludorum – which is the best aggregate time from the Up ‘n’ Over, Long Retrieve, Short Fence, Duck Distraction and Pick ‘n’ Mix. Four dogs will qualify in total – made up of the two fastest spaniels and two quickest Labradors.
As well as Knebworth Country Show, qualifying rounds will also be held at Lowther Show, with the grand final being held at the Midland Game Fair in September. Prizes include cash, rosettes, engraved crystal goblets and engraved limited edition Chudleys dog collars.
Countryman Fairs’ CEO Ian commented: “We take great pride in creating innovative championship events that really push the boundaries of their respective country sports. We are particularly proud of the Chudleys Gundog Championship as it is the only competition of its kind, and rewards the incredible dedication and skill that is required to compete in a gundog competition at the very highest level. We look forward to seeing what 2016 will bring and the talent that it will uncover!”
