How Plants Grow KS1-KS2
Let your children see the topic of ‘Green Plants’ come to life as they explore our Formal Gardens and Walled Kitchen Garden with our knowledgeable guides. This is a wonderful way for children to explore the world around them and develop their understanding of scientific ideas as they discover how plants grow in the context of a beautiful, established, working garden. Newly planted seedlings, 300 year old trees and plants that have been in existence since the days of the dinosaurs – all contextualised in a peaceful, garden setting.
Each child will take a seed they have planted back to school. Follow up resources will be available to teachers to continue the learning in the classroom.
This session can be adapted for pupils from Year 2 up to Year 6. June & July only.
This activity day will develop understanding of the science curriculum through direct experience, allowing children to connect with the natural world. Topics covered include: what plants need for growth; the life cycle of a plant; the different forms that plants take and what we use plants for. Throughout, children will use their senses to investigate all sorts of plants from small fruits to our largest trees.
