(a)(i) To preserve for the benefit of the nation buildings of national historic or architectural or artistic interest and importance and to protect and improve the amenities of such buildings and their surroundings.
(ii) To preserve for the benefit of the nation and as an adjunct to any such buildings as aforesaid furniture pictures and other chattels of national historic or artistic interest.
(iii) To advance the historical architectural and aesthetic education
of the public and in particular but without prejudice to the generality
of the foregoing by facilitating the access to and the study and
appreciation of such buildings furniture pictures and chattels as
aforesaid by the general public.
(b) In furtherance of the above general and primary objects but not otherwise the Charity shall have the following powers:
(i) To preserve conserve restore and maintain for the educational
and aesthetic benefit of the public now and in the future the
Mansion known as Knebworth House Knebworth in the County of Hertford
its historically associated chattels muniments and other contents
the surrounding gardens outbuildings forest and parkland including
neighbouring buildings of historic social aesthetic and architectural
association with the Mansion in particular St. Mary s Church the
Mausoleum the Manor and Lodge Barns in Knebworth Park,
(ii) For the public benefit within the area comprised within
the boundaries of Knebworth Parish:
(aa) to promote high standards of planning and architecture in
or affecting the said area and
(bb) to secure the preservation protection and development and improvement of features of historic or public interest in the said area PROVIDED ALWAYS that the Trustees shall in the application of
the capital and the income of the Trust Fund in or towards the
charitable objects described in sub-clauses (a) and (b) of this
Clause .3 give precedence to the furtherance of the charitable
objects contained in the said sub-clause (b)(i) above
(c) The general purpose of such charitable bodies or for such other purposes shall be exclusively Charitable as the Trustees may from time to time decide.
