Itinerary

10.00 am

  • Arrive at Knebworth Park.
  • Walk from coach drop-off point, via toilets, to House.
  • Please allow 10 minutes to transfer from coach to House, allowing more time for a toilet stop if needs be.

10.20 am

  • Greeting at Knebworth House by costumed guides. Whole group introduction.

10.30 am

  • Group activities around the House.

12.00 noon

  • Lunch. Timed visit to shop (Optional)

1.00 pm

  • Arrive at Garden meeting point for afternoon team activities. Timings flexible to fit with your departure time.

House Activities - Morning

In the imposing Banqueting Hall the children will be given a talk which will set the scene for the day. They then move into their pre-arranged groups to start their tour.

In each room, the children concentrate on a different Tudor theme, guided by a member of the House staff. They complete an activity before moving on to the next room.

Garden Activities - Afternoon

The children have a briefing on the make-up of the afternoon. The theme is "Tudor Food". Working in teams, the children look for clues at five stations on the Tudor Treasure Trail Map. They collect the "treasure" hidden there, returning to the meeting point between each station to answer bonus questions. At the end of the afternoon the childen will hopefully have solved the puzzle and are presented with a memento to be shared back at school.

Rain Cover Provision

Rain cover will be provided at lunchtime. We will endeavour to run the garden activities in light rain provided the children have suitable footwear and coats.

In case of very bad weather, we offer rain cover activities. These include brass rubbing, costume design, dressing up and coats of arms design. Materials will be provided for these activities.
