Knebworth House, Hertfordshire received the Sandford Award for Heritage Education on the 21st November at Worcester Cathedral.
The team at Knebworth House were delighted to hear that their Education Programmes continue to be recognised. The judge of the prestigious Sandford Award commented:
“Knebworth House is an exciting and interesting place for school groups to visit. The Education team take care to offer visits that are tailored to the particular interests and needs of a group, and which make the most of the House and the collection. Often it is possible for school groups to be the only visitors in the House which gives a group the chance to take time in each room and really engage with the topic in hand. This makes for memorable visits!”
The Sandford Award is an independently judged, quality assured assessment of education programmes at heritage sites, museums, archives and collections across the British Isles. Knebworth House has continuously held the Sandford Award for excellence in heritage education since 2001. More than 350 sites – including historic houses, museums, galleries, places of worship, gardens, landscapes and collections – have received an Award since the scheme began in 1978. They include Hampton Court Palace, Brunel’s SS Great Britain in Bristol, Edinburgh Castle, and Big Pit – the National Mining Museum of Wales.
