Role: Assistant Head Gardener
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: from £17,000 per annum
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our horticultural team at Knebworth House – one of the finest examples of a Sir Edwin Lutyens garden. To be successful in this role, you will be committed to working in a heritage context, gardening for the enjoyment of the visiting public, the resident family, and the preservation and education trust.
Your main responsibilities will include managing the glasshouses, propagation, plant sales, guided tours and the cut flower and vegetable garden. In addition you will support the Head Gardener ensuring excellent standards of horticulture and plantsmanship are planned and delivered. You will also help to train staff, students and volunteers.
Candidates must have a minimum of a National Diploma in Horticulture (or equivalent), at least two years experience of working in a public garden, supervisory skills, a full UK driving licence and PA1 and PA6a certificates.
