We were delighted to welcome residents from Nine Jubilee Court into the Banqueting Hall of Knebworth House to watch the Connaught Opera. We were proud to host the charity opera again this year as part of our ongoing support of charitable organisations. The Connaught Opera specialises in performing for the older generation; we love to see the instantaneous joy on the residents’ faces, many of whom wouldn’t be able to attend an event like this if it wasn’t for the support offered by the brilliant staff at Nine Jubilee Court.
The talented trio of Maria Arakie (soprano) and Glen Wilson (baritone) who sang alongside pianist Nicholas Bosworth, performed songs from South Pacific, Dean Martin and many more. The highlight of the afternoon was when Nicholas played tunes by Glenn Miller and everyone started to clap along! It was lovely the see fantastic participation from the audience, which was encouraged by the performers going into the crowd and interacting with residents. Maria made a total of six costume changes throughout the performance, including one with a blonde wig, which entertained the audience greatly.
We hope to host the event again next year.
