Garden Theatre – The Emperor’s New Clothes
Waiting for someone to invent something original? On the 17th August you’ll need to bring your best clamouring for the cautionary tale of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, performed by the multi-award winning theatre group, Illyria.
Beneath the Emperor’s new fancy clothes lies something more… meaningful; a humongous pe-rsonal human weakness satirised mercilessly; and a capacity for loving is the highest value. There are larger-than-life characters and lots to join in with.
The Emperor is a lovely man, but he’s not the best judge of character. What keeps him sane is the monthly Grand Parade at which he wears his newest outfit. When two swindlers offer him the ability to identify competence by making him clothes which only the wise can see, what price will he have to pay? Will he end up losing his crown jewels? When someone spins a yarn must everyone be taken in? All will be revealed in Illyria’s cheekiest ever show!
[Note: there is NO nudity in the production – that must mean you’re wise!]
Bring along a low back chair, blankets, and a picnic; kick your feet up and enjoy the show.
#The show must go on# regardless of the weather (except thunder storms), so bring suitable clothing.
